Best of 2012 {Candy and Dessert Tables}

Candy Buffets

This past year we have so much to be thankful for:)  The business flourished, we gained many new friends, worked with some fabulous people in the field, and welcomed Baby Gavin into the world!  Looking back through some photos of our displays it was difficult to choose a Top Ten.  Some of our favorite displays didn’t even make the list, but sometimes it is more about the entire experience.  Perhaps it was the appreciative client that desperately needed our help, the creative theme of the event, the team of collaborators that were involved, the first time we introduced a new dessert, or even for the actual guest-of-honor or charity that we were celebrating!  Whatever reason it may be, these were the top ten displays that we created this year:

10.  Rustic Wine Themed meets Intimate Wedding Elegance

“All You Need is Love”…and a little bit of CANDY!

Fall-themed weddings include warm tones, gold embellishments, autumn leaves, and chocolate.  Throw in “The Beatles” and you have just described a recent wedding candy table that we created.

With so many themed elements to include, we made sure all “Beatles” details were subtle.

The S’More pops were a must for this fall wedding, so we added tiny  tags.

A Prepster’s Christening {Candy Table Highlight}

CW distinctive DESIGNS specializes in dessert tables and candy buffets, but it is a great pleasure when we get to cross over to overall event designer.  I marvel over some details that  event planners/designers pull off, and definitely have an overwhelming appreciation for every detail that they think of and carry through on.  I realize some people won’t ever notice the coordinating patterns on the paper items, or the placement of the favor box, or even the complimentary fabric used throughout a venue, but I do…AND I LOVE it!!

I always create an inspiration board for my events for various reasons.  1. It helps the client to step into my mind and understand my vision.  2. It helps to keep all vendors that I use or bring in to be on the same page.  3.  (Most importantly) It helps me coordinate all of the fabric, ribbons, embellishments, treats, paper, etc that I am using.

My vision for this Christening was classy country club, so it was perfect that we were set up in the sunroom of the venue.  The whites were crisper and the colors were more vibrant.  I love patterns; for that reason, I used polka dots because it was a baby event, the chevron because it shouts, “Modern!” and focused on argyle to highlight my ”prepster” vision.

{European-Inspired} Sweet Treat Dessert Table

Last year, my family vacationed in Portugal and Spain to visit extended family and take pleasure in the culture.  Thus this European-Inspired Sweet Treat Dessert Table was motivated by our enjoyment of the delectable desserts we savored and the simple, yet stylish atmosphere we experienced.  The special event was a dual baptism for my son and neice, for whom I am honored to be a Godmother for.  The neutral color scheme consisted of gold, champagne and white hues; it coordinated well with the venue’s warm yellow tones. And we love the venue: La Fontana’s Restaurant :)

I come from a family of “foodies,” thus the focal point of the room became the dessert table. Some European-inspired desserts included our family’s favorites: Pasteis de Nata, a Portuguese crème pastry that melts in your mouth, and Mille Figlio, what the Americans know as “The Italian Napoleon.”    Also included were French Macarons, Meringue cookies, and Ferrero Roche chocolates.  Kid and adult favorites, such as Snickers, chocolate covered Oreos, grapefruit/pineapple gummies, chocolate caramel and pretzels rounded out the display.

Each guest was given a gold tote to take some home as an additional favor.

The beverage table included Grandma’s homemade Sangria, which always proves to be a success, as well as red and white wines imported from France.  We love Hand Picked Selections, Inc!

A scroll pattern and a chic cursive font were used for the labels.  The flower centerpiece stayed true to the European tablescape simplicity, as they were Pellegrino and wine bottles spray painted gold and champagne showcasing white hydrangeas with baby’s breath.  Champagne pintuck runners were used atop the tables.

Check out our facebook page for more detailed photos of this dessert table, as well as our extensive portfolio:)

Sugar and Spice Baby Shower {Party Printables}

Lately, I have been blessed with the gift of new babies.  My second son was born; moreover, I became an AUNT to a precious baby girl!  This was one baby shower that I took extra attention to detail as it was for my sister and her first child.  Of course, the entire event was based around the delectable display of chocolate and candy located at the Sweet Treat Dessert Table created by CW distinctive DESIGNS.

Party Printables {banner, cupcake toppers, signage, invitation, and food labels} are available at My Etsy Shop.

Birthday Candy and Dessert Buffet Table

Candyland Birthday Pink Candy Buffet Station The eye CANDY of the evening came as the guests exited the nightclub and entered the bar that was closed down and solely devoted to the table of goodies.  They were greeted by a heavenly table of sweets, designed and executed by CW distinctive DESIGNS.  The Candy and Sweet Treat Dessert Table, logo, and displayed artwork coordinated together.

I was so honored to be able to design the labels and graphics for the table myself, as well as provide the ideas for the artwork pieces that were showcased, featuring the guest-of honor.

Every single element of the table was precisely thought through, coordinating with the theme and cohesively bringing the event together.

{Carnival-Style} Candy Buffets

Recently CW distinctive DESIGNS was asked to create a carnival-themed candy buffet for a beautiful little girl’s Communion.

Although the party’s colors included purples, pinks, and greens, the mother had an excellent idea to go in a different direction for the boldly-colored candy buffet table.  For a person who loves to coordinate everything, I had some reservations; but, it worked perfectly!  It brought some flair to an elegant event.  I felt this table was “blog-worthy” because of the fun factor, and wished to share some party ideas for others.  What a unique theme for an outdoor party,  rustic location or, even, a simple backyard barbecue?

Some simple carnival elements were used in “distinctive” ways.  What is a carnival without cotton candy and popcorn?  Freshly-spun cotton candy was served in a package adorned with a personalized label.  Brightly-colored red popcorn was served in large carnival-styled bins that featured the carnival stripes that were used to tie everything together.

Candy Kabobs made with gummy sour belts topped with marshmallow hot dogs intrigued many people.  Peanuts were used in displaying the flowers.

Gianna’s sign highlighted the striped awning to mimic a “Big Top” tent.

Additional embellishments included raffle tickets, candy button sticks, whirly and unicorn pops, a gumball machine, and LEDs that highlighted the table as the venue’s lights were dimmed.

Candy Buffets {Candy Land Inspiration}

Everybody needs a little fun in their lives! Let’s have amusement with a Candy Land Dream…The inspiration came from wall stickers I found online at Wall Sticker Outlet.

CW distinctive DESIGNS can work with any theme that you need, but, this time, we are bringing the theme to you… Candy Land!  What screams Candy Land more than a candy buffet or dessert table to satisfy your sweet tooth?

Nostalgia candy is a necessity, from the wild flavors of gummy bears to some of Willy Wonka’s famous creations.  Boardwalk candy doesn’t always have to be offered at the boardwalk.  Garnish your event with some favorites!

Caramel popcorn and brightly-colored whirly pops can be presented in our new lollipop display.

Cotton candy will be sure to please both the young and old, and we did not forget your neighborhood ice cream man’s explosive treat of enjoyment…Pop Rocks!

You do not have to order a Screwball ice cream cone to get to your tiny two gumballs at the bottom.  Place an order for a tabletop gumball machine with CW distinctive DESIGNS, so your guests can keep chewing all day!
