We absolutley loved setting up this candy buffet and dessert table for the bride-to-be. Sayan Gardens, the venue, is a quaint location tucked away on a beautiful property located in Central NJ. It provided a beautiful backdrop for our display.

I have the honor to be part of a close friend’s wedding this fall, one who has been right with me supporting, enjoying, and witnessing every milestone in my own life. Now it is my turn to be her loyal supporter as she embarks on a lifetime of happiness with the man of her dreams.
Inevitably, planning a unique and unforgettable bridal shower was the intentions of all those involved (close friends and bridesmaids). It made it very simple when you have a handful of crafty people, organizers, a dessert table business owner, a bartender, and a graphic designer. We wanted to incorporate all of our talents; thus, we brainstormed the Cocktails & Cupcakes Bridal Shower, with the color palette of yellow. How can you look at yellow and not smile? Because the future groom sings and plays guitar in a band, we loved the idea of tying in lyrics from Coldplay’s “Yellow” to really celebrate the love that the future bride and groom have for one another. Multiple yellow patterns and fabrics were used for dimension and a few hues of blue were added to complement the bright yellows.
Fifty guests were greeted with a wall-to-wall layout of cocktails, cupcakes, desserts, and food. Drinks, such as the signature cocktail “Yellow Bird,” red/white sangria, and wine were served in mason jars with straws and wine glasses. Guests were able to label their drink with yellow washi tape and chevron stock labels.
The desserts and favor table were setup by CW distinctive DESIGNS, which included strawberry mascarpone shortcake, mousse shooters, cannoli dip, and gourmet stuffed cupcakes made by Little Sweet Cakes. The favor table included treats, such as gummy candy, gumballs, individually boxed cake pops, and brigadeiros all in yellow hues.
Decorations were coordinated and executed by the entire bridal party, including the balloon backdrop and gift wrap backdrop with tissue pom-poms. OOOH, thank heavens for good friends! They executed the tedious job of placing one balloon down at a time.
The white linen tables were adorned with yellow-patterned table mats, and wine and beer bottles spray painted yellow used for vases, along with light blue mason jars, filled with lemons.
This past year we have so much to be thankful for:) The business flourished, we gained many new friends, worked with some fabulous people in the field, and welcomed Baby Gavin into the world! Looking back through some photos of our displays it was difficult to choose a Top Ten. Some of our favorite displays didn’t even make the list, but sometimes it is more about the entire experience. Perhaps it was the appreciative client that desperately needed our help, the creative theme of the event, the team of collaborators that were involved, the first time we introduced a new dessert, or even for the actual guest-of-honor or charity that we were celebrating! Whatever reason it may be, these were the top ten displays that we created this year:
10. Rustic Wine Themed meets Intimate Wedding Elegance
9. European-Inspired Dessert Table
8. Annie Taintor Themed Bridal Shower Candy Table
7. Little Bird Baby Shower Sweet Treat Dessert Table
6. Purple Candyland First Birthday Sweets
5. Mr. Prepster’s Christening Candy Buffet
4. C+P Explosive Wedding Candy Table
3. Peacock Inspired Sweet 16 Candy Station
2. Dining Out New Jersey Toys for Tots Charity Event
1. “Miss Alana’s” Sugar and Spice Baby Shower Candy Table
Thank you to all of our past and future clients! You make this ALL WORTH IT! Looking forward to the Year 2013…

CW distinctive DESIGNS specializes in dessert tables and candy buffets, but it is a great pleasure when we get to cross over to overall event designer. I marvel over some details that event planners/designers pull off, and definitely have an overwhelming appreciation for every detail that they think of and carry through on. I realize some people won’t ever notice the coordinating patterns on the paper items, or the placement of the favor box, or even the complimentary fabric used throughout a venue, but I do…AND I LOVE it!!

I always create an inspiration board for my events for various reasons. 1. It helps the client to step into my mind and understand my vision. 2. It helps to keep all vendors that I use or bring in to be on the same page. 3. (Most importantly) It helps me coordinate all of the fabric, ribbons, embellishments, treats, paper, etc that I am using.
My vision for this Christening was classy country club, so it was perfect that we were set up in the sunroom of the venue. The whites were crisper and the colors were more vibrant. I love patterns; for that reason, I used polka dots because it was a baby event, the chevron because it shouts, “Modern!” and focused on argyle to highlight my “prepster” vision.
