A Prepster’s Christening |Candy Table|

CW distinctive DESIGNS specializes in dessert tables and candy buffets, but it is a great pleasure when we get to cross over to overall event designer.  I marvel over some details that  event planners/designers pull off, and definitely have an overwhelming appreciation for every detail that they think of and carry through on.  I realize some people won’t ever notice the coordinating patterns on the paper items, or the placement of the favor box, or even the complimentary fabric used throughout a venue, but I do…AND I LOVE it!!

I always create an inspiration board for my events for various reasons.  1. It helps the client to step into my mind and understand my vision.  2. It helps to keep all vendors that I use or bring in to be on the same page.  3.  (Most importantly) It helps me coordinate all of the fabric, ribbons, embellishments, treats, paper, etc that I am using.

My vision for this Christening was classy country club, so it was perfect that we were set up in the sunroom of the venue.  The whites were crisper and the colors were more vibrant.  I love patterns; for that reason, I used polka dots because it was a baby event, the chevron because it shouts, “Modern!” and focused on argyle to highlight my “prepster” vision.

|European-Inspired| Sweet Treat Dessert Table

Last year, my family vacationed in Portugal and Spain to visit extended family and take pleasure in the culture.  Thus this European-Inspired Sweet Treat Dessert Table was motivated by our enjoyment of the delectable desserts we savored and the simple, yet stylish atmosphere we experienced.  The special event was a dual baptism for my son and neice, for whom I am honored to be a Godmother for.  The neutral color scheme consisted of gold, champagne and white hues; it coordinated well with the venue’s warm yellow tones. And we love the venue: La Fontana’s Restaurant🙂

I come from a family of “foodies,” thus the focal point of the room became the dessert table. Some European-inspired desserts included our family’s favorites: Pasteis de Nata, a Portuguese crème pastry that melts in your mouth, and Mille Figlio, what the Americans know as “The Italian Napoleon.”    Also included were French Macarons, Meringue cookies, and Ferrero Roche chocolates.  Kid and adult favorites, such as Snickers, chocolate covered Oreos, grapefruit/pineapple gummies, chocolate caramel and pretzels rounded out the display.

Each guest was given a gold tote to take some home as an additional favor.

The beverage table included Grandma’s homemade Sangria, which always proves to be a success, as well as red and white wines imported from France.  We love Hand Picked Selections, Inc!

A scroll pattern and a chic cursive font were used for the labels.  The flower centerpiece stayed true to the European tablescape simplicity, as they were Pellegrino and wine bottles spray painted gold and champagne showcasing white hydrangeas with baby’s breath.  Champagne pintuck runners were used atop the tables.
